Reset yourself like a computer

What if you could just press control + alt + delete to reset yourself?

Resetting your body from stressed to relax?

Do you believe us if we tell you that this is possible?

We can explain that scientifically.

Press control + alt + delete to reset yourself?

The nervous system

Let’s look a bit deeper into our nervous system.

If you don’t have any anatomy knowledge, don’t worry, we will explain this in easy terms.

So this is how the nervous system in our body looks like.

The nervous system

Our brain is like a computer that controls the body’s functions.

The nervous system is like a network that relays messages back and forth from the brain to different parts of the body.

Our nervous system is divided into 2 main parts:

  • The brain and the spinal cord that are the central nervous system.
  • The nerves that go through the whole body are called the peripheral nervous system.

A part of the peripheral nervous system called the autonomic nervous system controls many of the body processes we almost never need to think about, like digestion, sweating, breathing.

The autonomic nervous system has two parts:

  • sympathetic nervous system
  • parasympathetic nervous system

The sympathetic nervous system prepares the body for sudden stress.

If you are afraid of something, the sympathetic nervous system makes the heart beat faster, so that it sends blood quickly to the different body parts that need it.

And at the same time, when you are afraid your adrenal glands at the top of your kidneys release adrenaline, a hormone that helps give extra power to the muscles to run away.

This is what we call the ‘fight or flight’ response.

Fight or flight response

The parasympathetic nervous system does the opposite: It prepares the body for rest.

It also helps with our digestion system.

Reset your nervous system

So now that we know more about our nervous system, you understand that if you are stressed and like to become relaxed, your brain needs to reset your nervous system.

From sympathetic (fight or flight) to parasympathetic (preparing the body to rest)

In both nervous systems the brain sends off different chemical reactions.

In example: when you are relaxed, your brain sends off a sign in your body to release that we call happy hormones like serotonin, dopamine oxytocin and more.

And if you are stressed, your body is in sympathetic state, your brain sends off signs in your body to release the stress hormones, like cortisol, noradrenaline, vasopressin and more.

Fight or flight response

From stressed to relax?

So what has this to do with massage?

Everything!

Because when you receive acupressure massage, your body is resetting from stressed to relax.

How?

Let’s look at what happens when the masseur presses with the thumbs on the sole of the feet.

The stimulation on the nerve endings of the feet will help to change the respond by our brain from sympathetic (when you are in a fight or flight mode) to the parasympathetic (the part of the nerve system that controls the functions in our body when we are in a relaxed mode).

So yes, it is a bit like resetting a computer.

Your brain is your computer.

Your brain is your computer

And when your brain is stressed you need to reset it to a relaxed mode, like a computer.

So now you understand that acupressure massage works a bit like control + alt + delete.

If you like to learn how to reset yourself and your partner from stressed to relax in just 15 minutes by acupressure massage, then we have something for you:

Wishing you a happy, healthy and stress-free day,
