WHAT IS ADVANCED NUAD THAI MASSAGE?

Advanced Nuad Thai Massage Therapy is a treatment for various ailments, such as headaches, back pain, stress, tension (burnout), sleep problems, menstruation problems, arthritis, high blood pressure, stomach problems, tennis elbow, feeling low or depressed, constipation, sprained ankle, knee problems, neck problems, hip pain, shoulder pain etc.

Advanced Nuad Thai Massage Therapy is used in Asian hospitals to eliminate the need for surgery.

During the first appointment, the therapist provides comprehensive information of the complaints of the client through examination and asking questions. The therapist then gives a deep 1 to 2 hour therapeutic acupressure massage tailored to the complaints of the client.

This massage is given over the clothes. The client lies on a mat or on a table.

The therapist provides acupressure massage using thumbs, palms, elbows, knees and feet through the clothes, using body weight.

Massage therapy assumes that everything in our body is interconnected, also named Holistic and that the origin of the complaint may come from elsewhere in the body than from the painful area itself. Therefore, the massage treatment is a whole body massage, starting at the feet and ending at the head.

Because everyone is different and each complaint is different, a treatment plan is developed together with the client at the end of the first treatment. The number of treatments depends on the complaint and its severity. Besides dealing with complaints, the therapist focuses on the prevention of recurrence of symptoms.

Indications and contra-indications for massage protocols

Objective:
After completion students will have basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology and are able to determine the indications and contra-indications for the massage protocols.

RECEIVE INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATIONS (optional)

Upon successful completion of the program, it is optional to get certified. The certification consists of 4 practical exams – you can choose to do the exams totally online OR live in our school in Amsterdam – 90 euro per exam.

The certificates you will receive as a graduate of Thai Yoga Massage Level 3 (Nuad Bo Rarn), Thai Yoga Massage Level 4 (Nuad Bo Rarn), Acupressure Massage Therapy for Health (Wat Po) and Abdominal Therapeutic Massage (Chi Nei Tsang) are internationally recognized.

What is the difference between physiotherapy and acupressure massage therapy?

Physical therapy is a treatment for symptoms to your muscles, ligaments, joints and nerves, also known as your muscular system. An Acupressure Massage Therapist also focuses on the muscular system but also has many health benefits for every organ system (The human being consists of 11 organ systems: Circulatory System, Endocrine System, Gastrointestinal (Digestive) System, Integumentary System, Lymphatic System, Muscular System, Nervous System, Reproduction System, Respiratory System, Skeletal System and Urinary System.

What is the difference with the Nuad Thai Massage Program and the Advanced Nuad Thai Massage Program?

The Nuad Thai Massage Program is more focused on prevention of ailments and on improving overall health through various massage disciplines: Thai yoga massage, chair massage, foot reflexology massage, deep tissue & sports massage and Thai table massage. The Advanced Nuad Thai Massage Program focuses on treating ailments. In addition, the Nuad Thai Massage Therapist works with different disciplines that can be performed at different locations, flexible (eg company massage, massage at festivals etc). The Advanced Nuad Thai Massage Therapist (who followed the Advanced Nuad Thai Massage Program) usually chooses to work in a health centre or practice. The programs are complementary to each other.

What is the difference with the Thai Yoga Massage Teacher Training Program?

The Nuad Thai Massage Program plus the Advanced Nuad Thai Massage Program leads to the specialist in Nuad Thai massage. We teach you the different disciplines of Nuad Thai. During the Teacher Training Program we teach you a part of both programs, namely the 4 levels of Thai yoga massage, PLUS we teach you how to teach, so you can become a Thai Yoga Massage Therapist PLUS a Thai Yoga Massage Teacher. The programs are complementary to each other.

I have studied Nuad Thai massage at other schools. Can I still participate?

We will look at the type of training you have completed, and what your understanding of Thai massage is, to help you determine which classes are suitable for you. Ideally, we encourage everyone to start with the Nuad Thai Massage Program as it is a good foundation for Thai massage. The Advanced Nuad Thai Massage Program starts with the Level 3 Thai Yoga Massage (Nuad Bo Rarn): It is required to have followed the courses Level 1 & Level 2 Thai Yoga Massage (Nuad Bo Rarn) of ITM first (online or face-to-face), before you can start with the Level 3 Thai Yoga Massage course, because the techniques of our advanced courses always relate to the techniques of the previous courses. If you studied at another ITM location than ITM Amsterdam, such as ITM Thai Hand Berlin or ITM Chiang Mai, you can proceed to the next level or retake our courses. Please let us know.

How about the exam?

The Advanced Nuad Thai Massage Program is more focused on practice rather than theory, because we believe in “practice makes perfect.” The exams are purely practical. We believe that our curriculum gives you all the tools to be a good Advanced Nuad Thai Massage Therapist. During the training, 4 examinations (one per module) are taken. You can schedule these exams when you feel ready. Each exam consists of giving a massage associated with the module to a model. The exams are optional. The fee is 90 euro per exam and you receive international certifications.
