Arrival and Intake:
🕒 Please arrive 20 minutes early if it’s your first time to complete registration.
📋 Upon arrival at ITM Thai Hand Amsterdam, you’ll be asked to fill out an intake form to note any relevant medical history, injuries, or physical conditions.
Intake:
🗣️ Our teacher will have a brief discussion with you about your medical conditions. Together, you can decide if any adjustments are needed.
🧘♀️ Please keep in mind that during the class, you should be able to sit on your knees comfortably. Since we practice as a group, if you have injuries, we recommend booking a massage treatment with a certified massage therapist, rather than participating in Thai Hand Massage Class.
Change of Clothes:
👕 In the dressing room, you can change into the appropriate attire for the Thai Hand Massage Class.
Hygiene is crucial since we’ll be massaging each other over clothes. Please arrive clean!
Please remember to bring:
🧦 Clean socks,
🩳 Long sports trousers (comfortable clothes for ease of movement),
👕 A long-sleeved shirt (you might feel a bit chilly during the massage),
👚 Wear a T-shirt underneath (you might get warmer while giving a massage),
💧 A bottle of water (you can enjoy this after the class; we don’t have a break during class).
Please note that we have one shared changing room, but no lockers.
During the Thai Hand Massage Class:
🌟 You’ll experience a full-body massage starting from your feet, then moving to your legs, back, arms, shoulders, and head. The massage is done over your clothes.
😌 To gain the most from the class, we encourage you to close your eyes and fully relax when receiving the massage. Your massage partner will adjust the pressure to your preference while following the teacher’s guidance.
🧘♂️ When it’s your turn to give a massage, simply watch the teacher and follow along. Try to enter a meditative state, as we practice as a harmonious group during Thai Hand Massage Class. For more detailed instruction, we offer separate Nuad Thai Massage programs, focusing on positions, bodyweight usage, contraindications, and indications, with time for questions. Thai Hand Massage Class emphasizes the massage experience itself rather than professional massage training.
After the Thai Hand Massage Class:
😴 After the class, you may feel as though you’ve had a restful night’s sleep—this is quite common.
💪 If it’s your first class, you might experience some muscle soreness, which is perfectly normal. With continued practice, it becomes easier.
🌞 Remember that the benefits of massage tend to accumulate over time. This first class can be the pivotal step in your wellness journey, leading you to a healthier, happier, and stress-free life. You’ll likely feel better with each additional Thai Hand Massage Class you attend.
We hope this inspires you to clear your schedule and make this transformative first step towards wellness!
